Quick answer: Choose the adhesive around your plans, not a promised number of wear days. Tabs can be convenient when you want to change a look sooner; glue may suit someone who wants a firmer bond. Neither fixes a tip that does not fit. Check what your particular Fine Point kit includes and follow that adhesive’s instructions.

First check the fit, then choose the adhesive
A good bond starts before either product touches your nail. Test-fit all ten tips on clean, dry nails. Each tip should cover the nail without resting on the surrounding skin, pinching at the sides or rocking over a gap. If the width is right but the curve feels wrong, read our curvature fit checklist before attaching the set. More glue is not a substitute for a comfortable fit.
Glue or tabs: what changes?
| Question | Nail glue | Adhesive tabs |
|---|---|---|
| When might I choose it? | When you prefer a firmer-feeling bond and are prepared to follow the glue’s full application and removal directions. | When you want a lower-commitment style change and prefer a separate tab application routine. |
| What matters most? | Correct fit, fully dry nails, controlled amount of glue, and the product’s stated pressing and removal steps. | Correct fit, a tab sized for the nail, clean dry contact surfaces, and the product’s stated pressing and removal steps. |
| Can I reuse the art nail? | Possibly, if it comes off intact and residue can be cleaned without damaging the design. | Possibly, if it comes off intact and the tab can be removed without damaging the design. |
How long either method stays on varies with fit, preparation, the adhesive itself and daily activities. We cannot promise a particular wear duration for a Fine Point set. If your kit contains both options, you can choose one method for that wear according to its directions; check the individual listing because contents can differ.
Should I combine tabs and glue?
You may see people online layer the two. That is a personal technique, not a standard Fine Point instruction or a guaranteed solution. Combining products can change how the set sits and how it must be removed. Unless the instructions for both adhesive products explicitly support that combination, start with one method and learn how it fits and releases before experimenting.
A simple first-time decision
- Want to switch designs soon? Consider tabs if your kit has them and their instructions suit your plans.
- Want a firmer-feeling application? Consider the supplied glue, but allow time to learn its removal instructions before you apply it.
- Tip is tight, painful or visibly gapped? Stop and revisit fit. Do not use extra adhesive to force the tip into place.
- Ready to apply? Follow our application guide and the packaging for your specific adhesive.
What about removal and natural nails?
Glue and tabs do not release in exactly the same way. Never peel a firmly attached tip off by force; use the removal guide together with the adhesive maker’s directions. Any adhesive or cosmetic product may irritate some people. If you notice pain, itching, redness or another persistent reaction, stop using the product and seek appropriate medical advice. The American Academy of Dermatology advises people to pay attention to reactions to nail products.
Fine Point tip: Photograph your chosen nail layout before application. If one comes loose later, you will know which tip belongs to which finger without guessing at the size.
